Content Writing for UAE and GCC Businesses That Need to Be Read, and Cited, in 2026
Somebody arrives on your website with a question they have already asked an AI. They are looking for a reason to trust you before they call.
Most sites hand them a page written to contain the right words.
Google holds one category of content to a higher standard than the rest of the web. Its guidelines call it Your Money or Your Life: pages that could affect a person's health, finances, safety, or wellbeing. Clinics publish into it. So do hospitals. On these pages Google looks for demonstrated experience.
AI systems inherited the same logic. They cite sources that show knowledge of a subject. Keyword density does not read as expertise to a model trained on what expertise sounds like.
The content that earns a reader's trust and the content that gets found are now the same content.
- Only 17% of citations in Google AI Overviews come from pages ranking in the organic top ten. Eighteen months ago it was 76%
- Brands cited inside an AI Overview earn 35% more organic clicks than the brands ranking below it
The citation is the prize, and position no longer wins it. Content written to fill a page holds nothing a system can point at. No specifics, no evidence, nothing a reader would repeat to somebody else. It ranks for a while, then it stops.
In August 2026 we looked at fifty healthcare websites across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Twelve had published nothing in six months. Thirteen more publish without a visible date, so a reader has no way of telling whether a page about their own health was written last month or in 2019.
SEO International has published content for businesses across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Riyadh, Jeddah, Doha, and Kuwait since 2008. The Content and Copywriting practice is led by Ahmer Ahmed.
What Fifty UAE Healthcare Websites Look Like
In August 2026 we audited fifty healthcare organisations across Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Fifteen hospitals and hospital groups, twenty specialty clinics, ten clinic networks, five wellness centres. We recorded what each publishes, how often, how its doctors are written up, and what its homepage claims.
Twelve had published nothing in six months. Four had published nothing in a year. One site’s most recent article is from 2018.
Thirteen more publish without a visible date. In a category Google assesses partly on how current it is, a reader cannot tell whether the page on their condition was written last month or seven years ago.
The median doctor profile runs under 160 words. Thirty of the fifty introduce their consultants in one short paragraph. Eight write anything that could be called a profile. The shortest we found was 46 words for a specialist’s entire career.
Six homepages carry no readable headline. An image carousel, and nothing a person or a system can read as a claim about the business.
Two of the largest hospitals in the sample publish a licensed Mayo Clinic patient library instead of writing their own. The patient education is excellent. None of it is theirs, and none of it says anything about the doctors down the corridor.

What the Writing Looks Like
Most hospital pages open with a bed count.
She was two years old. The cough had been there since September.
The x-ray found a mass in the right side of her chest. It had pushed her right lung and her heart across into the left side, onto the left lung. She was breathing on half of one.
Her case went to the paediatric oncology meeting. The biopsy found a low-grade sarcoma. Chemotherapy would not touch it. The tumour had to come out.
It weighed eight hundred grams.
That is the opening of a profile of a hospital in Al Ain, written for Western-trained consultants deciding where to spend the next ten years of their career, and published under the byline of the founder of a Gulf physician placement consultancy.
The bed count is in the piece. So are the accreditations, the certifications, the training programmes and the terms of the package. They come further down, once the reader has a reason to keep going.

Who Writes It
Ahmer Ahmed leads the Content and Copywriting practice. Seven years writing for clinics, hospitals, and healthcare brands across the UAE.
For American Wellness Center in Dubai Healthcare City, he built and ran the content programme. Organic traffic rose 32% in three months. The centre now ranks alongside Mayo Clinic and WebMD on high intent psychology searches in the UAE.
He has written a series of long form hospital and physician profiles for a Gulf physician placement consultancy, published under the founder’s byline and read by Western trained consultants across the UK, Ireland, and North America. He also writes patient-facing editorial for psychotherapy and paediatric cardiology practices in Dubai.
Outside the work, he is a published poet.
Why waiting costs more than starting
Content authority accrues to whoever started earlier. A business publishing consistently for two years holds something a competitor cannot buy quickly. The gap does not close with budget. It closes with time, and only for whoever is publishing.
Half of the fifty healthcare websites we audited have either stopped publishing or stopped dating what they publish. Most of this market is not competing for the ground you would be competing for.
